A B C D E F G H I K L M O P Q R S T V W Find your Air Bag Control Module now!The Air Bag Control Module is the part of the Air Bag System that reads the sensors located around the vehicle and signals the air bags to inflate upon determining a crash. The vehicle sensors detect decelerations, front, rear, and side impacts, passenger seat occupancy, as well as rollovers (in some vehicles). The Air Bag Control Module reads all of these sensors and determines the severity of the crash as well as the angle of impact. Based on these results, the Control Module will then deploy the appropriate air bags (driver/passenger front bags, rear bags, side bags, or side curtain bags) and/or seat belt pre-tensioners. The Control Module has a self diagnosis feature and will light an indicator when an internal fault is detected. The Control Module should be tested and repaired or replaced when a fault is detected or after an air bag deployment.
