A B C D E F G H I K L M O P Q R S T V W Find your Air Ride Compressor now! Most luxury cars have a feature that, while almost invisible to the driver, is important to the safety and convenience expected from them. That feature is self-leveling rear suspension. What this means is that the car can remain level regardless of how many people are in the car or what is placed in the trunk. There are usually three parts to this system: the air bag or shock, the height sensor or valve, and the air ride compressor. The compressor is usually located under the hood, although it is occasionally placed in the rear. While many older cars used engine vacuum to operate the compressor, almost all of them are operated by electricity today. When they fail the car will start to drag around like a sick dog, and handling will be upset as well. Replacing one is a simple chore, and a used component is a good choice.
