Anti Lock Brake Pump is one of four parts of the anti locking brake system. The anti lock brake system prevents skidding, so that the car can be steered and stopped. The ABS has four major parts, Speed senor, pump, valve, and controller.

The valve releases pressure from the brakes, and the pump reapplies that pressure. The pump is there to increase the pressure to the line giving the car the ability to brake and stop. The pump works with the normal braking system of the car by pumping the brakes, at the right moment in a skid. The pump does this by changing the amount of brake fluid pressure on each wheel to enhance braking performance. The pump regulates this to prevent the car's brakes from locking up.
